Anna Maria Nowak was born in Poland, where she studied Scandinavian Studies at the University of Gdansk. She finished her dance education at Anton Bruckner Universität in Linz, Austria (MA in Dance Arts 2008). 2003 – 2005 she was dancer in x.IDA Postgraduate Dance Company (Esther Linley). Since 2005 she lives in Vienna works there as a freelance dancer, performer and choreographer. In 2009 she received the DanceWeb scholarship. She worked with e.g. Gervasi Dance Company, Rose Breuss and Julia Mach. In 2006 she joined Liquid Loft/Chris Haring for the Posing Project. In February 2010 her first solo choreography, Mindblankless was premiered at the Odeon Theater in Vienna. Her second solo work Die Tänzerinnen schwitzen eh net so grauslich was shown at Fanny Ellsler Gala in ORF Funkhaus Eisenstadt in June 2010. The piece Studio Noir (collaboration with K.Schellander) was premiered in the frame of Stückwerk in Tanzquartier Wien in June 2010. She is a member of The Loose Collective, which recently created Here Comes the Crook – a Contemporary Dance Musical, performed at Tanzquartier Wien in February 2011.
Anna Maria Nowak is also a quest teacher at Anton Bruckner Universität - IDA (Institute for Dance Arts) in Linz and Wiener Staatsoper Ballett School.
